Outdoor kiosks
Outdoor Digital Kiosk Builds on Samsung OH Panels
An outdoor digital kiosk starts with a panel built for outside, not an indoor screen in a sealed box. The two Samsung outdoor panels on our store are the 46" OH46B at $4,499 and the 55" OH55A-S at $5,499. Both are 3,500 nits and rated 24/7. The kiosk housing, base, power run and install are quoted per site.

Why the panel has to be outdoor-rated
The indoor QM55C is rated for 0 - 40 °C and 500 nits. A closed metal box in July sun passes 40 °C inside without trying, and at 500 nits nobody can read it at noon anyway. The OH panels are rated -30 - 50 °C and run at 3,500 nits, which is why they cost several times more than an indoor panel of the same size.
That rating changes what the housing does. With an OH panel, the kiosk is about anchoring, theft protection and looks, rather than trying to keep weather off a bare indoor screen. It also changes the weight: the OH55A-S is 101.6 lb against 34.6 lb for a QM55C, so the base and anchors are sized for it.
Power, data and anchoring
Outdoor kiosks fail on the boring parts. Each OH panel draws a few hundred watts, so it gets its own outdoor-rated, ground-fault-protected circuit from a licensed electrician. Data comes in by trenched conduit or cellular; Wi-Fi from inside the building rarely reaches reliably. The base is bolted to a concrete pad, and the pad usually has to be poured before the kiosk ships.
If the kiosk faces the street through a storefront window instead of standing outside, you don't need an outdoor panel. A window-facing OM55B at $2,750 is the better buy; see kiosk displays. For the full cost picture, see kiosk pricing, and for install, ask for an install quote.
Outdoor kiosk questions
Can I put an indoor display in an outdoor kiosk enclosure?
We would not. Samsung rates the QM55C for 0 to 40 °C at 500 nits. Outdoors it overheats in summer, can fall below its rating in winter, and is unreadable in direct sun. The OH series is rated -30 to 50 °C at 3,500 nits.
How bright does an outdoor digital kiosk need to be?
Around 2,500 nits at minimum for direct sun, and we prefer 3,500. Both OH panels on the store are 3,500 nits.
Is the outdoor kiosk enclosure included with the panel?
No. DisplayDetails sells the OH46B and OH55A-S panels at the live price. The kiosk housing, base and install are quoted per site.
Can an outdoor kiosk have touch?
Yes, but plan for gloves and rain. IR frames work with gloves but can false-trigger on water and debris; capacitive glass handles rain better but needs bare fingers or touch-ready gloves. We pick per site.
What power does an outdoor kiosk need?
A dedicated outdoor-rated circuit run by a licensed electrician. Samsung lists typical draw at 430 W for the OH46B and 530 W for the OH55A-S, about three times an indoor QM55C.
Do outdoor kiosks need a permit?
Often. Many cities treat a freestanding outdoor screen as a sign, and anything anchored to a sidewalk can need the property owner's and the city's sign-off. Check with your local building department before ordering.
